OUR SUPPORTED CHARITY
Our firm proudly supports the Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA) in providing daily breakfast and lunch to a class of 30 learners at the Gateway Primary School in Delft, Western Cape.
Who is PSFA?
PSFA is a registered non-profit organization that addresses hunger in young learners attending Primary, Secondary and Special Needs schools, Orphaned and Vulnerable Children centres, early childhood development centres and Further Education and Training Centres in the Western Cape.
Their mission is to combat hunger in children attending schools and other developmental institutions through school feeding and other developmental initiatives, while they are at school.
The need for school funding
According to a report compiled by the University of Cape Town’s Children’s Institute, three out of four children in South Africa are living in poverty and 30% of the country’s population are experiencing food insecurity.
PSFA has to date provided over 1.5 billion nutritious meals to underprivileged school children and are currently providing daily meals to a total of 27 720 learners at various institutions in the Western Cape and have built 124 kitchens at schools.
Gateway Primary School
The school is a no-fee paying school and most parents are economically challenged. The learners come from areas mainly consistent of one-roomed shacks with little or no infrastructure. There are currently 1524 learners attending Gateway Primary School. PSFA currently provides daily breakfast and lunch to 880 children at this school.
